Through four games this season, Justin Fields has not been good. The Bears are 2-2, but it has not been because of Fields. He is currently 23-45 passing on the season, completing just 57% of his throws. He has 2 TDs and 4 INTs, and some of those INTs have been really ugly. He’s got… Read More We Cannot Yet Pass Judgement on Justin Fields
This Twitter exchange got me thinking: Mort brings up a great point that I’ve heard several times over the past few years but never really fully internalized until now: the first few weeks of the regular season now are like the extended preseason. Because nobody plays in the preseason anymore outside of bubble guys and… Read More Maybe It’s Smart to Withhold Judgment on NFL Teams This Early in the Season
So the 49ers just beat the Rams for the 7th time in a row in the regular season. Obviously the Rams got the best of the 49ers when it really mattered, the NFC Championship last season, and then went on to win the Super Bowl. But I want to talk about this season. It’s not… Read More It’s Time to Panic on the LA Rams
Last week, Detroit had a 24-14 lead on Minnesota before ultimately losing 28-24. It’s happened yet again: the Lions have a lead and appear well on their way to victory before ultimately crumbling late and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Earlier in the week I did the AFC, now I’m doing the NFC. I did most of this before the games on Sunday but not all of it. For a lot of these I’m cheating because it’s already Sunday night. But whatever; sue me. The NFC is weird. In my view, there’s a clear-cut top-3… Read More 2022 NFL Predictions, Part 2: Planting the Flag on All 16 NFC Teams

Kevin O’Connell with the Vikings won. Mike McDaniel with the Dolphins won. Dennis Allen (also not a rookie head coach but starting his tenure off… Read More NFL Week 1 Notes
We’ll go by division: AFC East I was working on this post all week and during the Thursday Night kickoff game, and I have to admit, Josh Allen looks absolutely incredible. He looks like the best QB in the league. The guy they said was “inaccurate” when he was coming out of college looks like… Read More 2022 NFL Predictions, Part 1: Planting the Flag on All 16 AFC Teams
I wanted to see if there were any geographical trends in where the current NFL starting QBs come from, and it turns out, there are strong trends: I’m basing this off of where they grew up and played high school football, to the best of my ability. They are overwhelmingly either from Texas, California, or… Read More Where All the NFL Starting QBs Are From: A Map
So the verdict is in. 6 games it is. Additional details: no further fine, Watson must get all massages from team masseuses. Apparently the NFL can appeal this decision for additional games tacked on to the suspension if it wishes, and it has I believe 3 days to do so, but it has not signaled… Read More DeShaun Watson Has Been Suspended for 6 Games
