Notable action from week 11 Bama is winning games on pure talent alone. Nick Saban, Bill O’Brien and Pete Golding are not outcoaching anyone. Looking just at power five opponents, and excluding Vanderbilt, who has Saban outcoached? With as much of a talent advantage as Bama has, I will define outcoaching someone as winning by… Read More CFB Week 11 Hot Takes, Observations and Flag Plants
I’ve been thinking about it, and I’m willing to cut Ryan Day some slack for one major reason: He’s only in his 4th season as a head coach. He’s only 43 years old. Even Kirby Smart is only 46 (turning 47 next month), but he’s been a head coach since 2016. He’s got an additional… Read More I’ve Been too Harsh on Ohio State and Ryan Day
I will start here with my game notes, taken in real time as I was watching the game. I did this with the Alabama vs. Tennessee game and I really liked it, so I decided to do it with this game. I think I’m going to do it with all the big time games, at… Read More Ohio State vs. Penn State Game Notes: Is Ohio State’s Lackluster Run Game a Reason to Panic?
Joel Klatt brought this up recently. Starts around the 17:49 mark: The basic gist of what he’s saying here is that divisions within college football conferences are dumb and outdated and are actually hurting the sport. The reason we have divisions is because there was a time when they were required in order to have… Read More College Football Needs to Get Rid of Divisions, Plus: When Will Nick Saban “Fall Off”?
Vegas’s take on the Michigan/Penn State game as of Wednesday: Penn State has not won a road game against a top-5 ranked team since 1994. The team they beat that year was… Michigan. (Penn State was ranked #3 that year and Michigan was #5, and Penn State won the game 31-24). I’ve kind of been… Read More Predictions for Bama vs. Tennessee AND Penn State vs. Michigan
Somebody from the Warriors organization leaked it to TMZ: There’s no audio, so we don’t know what Jordan Poole said to Draymond to get under his skin. But you have to imagine there was some jawing going on between the two. Draymond then walks over to Poole, gets right in his face, then Poole shoves… Read More Video of Draymond Green Punching Jordan Poole in the Face Leaked
Georgia, who we all previously thought to be on a completely different level than everyone else, and in the process of waltzing back to the National Championship Game, surprisingly had some difficulty dispatching of… Kent State? The final score was 39-22. Three turnovers by Georgia certainly gave Kent State some easy points, but they’re not… Read More College Football Thoughts & Hot Takes, Week 4: Everyone Is Flawed
While Vegas had Ohio State as 17.5 point favorites in this game, and everyone in the media was singing the praises of Ohio State’s offense–“They might average 50 a game!” “Three Heisman finalists!” “Greatest offense in the country easily!”–real Ohio State fans knew that this game was no sure thing. For one thing, Ohio State… Read More Ohio State Beats Notre Dame 21-10, Are They Legit?
I hate to be the “I told you so” guy, but in my post about Game 3, I said that the only way the Warriors can win games in this series is if the Celtics play like shit and Steph goes for 40. Tonight, the Celtics played like shit, Steph went for 43, and the… Read More Steph Drops 43, Warriors Prevail 107-97 to Tie Finals 2-2
Hey, when I predicted the game to be 42-24, it was a typo. I meant 42-24 Michigan, not 42-24 Ohio State. I promise I’m not lying. The first thing that crossed my mind watching Michigan run all over Ohio State is that this game looked exactly like the Ohio State-Oregon game in week 2. Oregon… Read More Michigan Finally Beats Ohio State
