It’s already Thursday and I don’t have enough time to go over every team, so I’ll just fire out some hot takes about some of the more notable developments in the NFL this past week. TuaNon validation! I’m trying to remember if I was a Tua believer over the past couple years. I think I… Read More NFL Week 2 Hot Takes and Takeaways
We’re through three weeks (for some teams, four) so I think I’ve got enough data to start compiling the power ratings. Now, granted, most teams have played just non-conference opponents thus far, so we still don’t really know just how “real” a lot of these teams are. (Michigan, for example, which has played the weakest… Read More College Football Power Ratings: Through Week 3
It was the week of the near upset. These Group of Five teams are getting frisky, man! After the Sun Belt Conference just went crazy last week, with three huge upset wins, it seemed like the mid-majors were launching a full-blown uprising in college football this week. Notre Dame finally got a win… barely. They… Read More Week 3 College Football Thoughts and Hot Takes: The Chaos Continues
Alabama I think Bama might be in some trouble, and it’s not a scheme thing. It’s a personnel thing. I don’t think they have the skill position talent that is typical of Saban Alabama teams. I think they are inherently limited on offense. After Bama’s first touchdown of the game against Texas, which they scored… Read More College Football Week 2 Thoughts and Hot Takes
Because I’m a huge college football nerd who loves “what if” scenarios, and because my curiosity got piqued when I ran through what a hypothetical 12-team playoff in 2021 would’ve looked like. So I wanted to do it for even more prior seasons. A few things: first, I had to re-do all of them after… Read More How Would the 12-Team College Football Playoff Have Looked in Past Seasons? Part I: 2014-2021
Earlier in the week I did the AFC, now I’m doing the NFC. I did most of this before the games on Sunday but not all of it. For a lot of these I’m cheating because it’s already Sunday night. But whatever; sue me. The NFC is weird. In my view, there’s a clear-cut top-3… Read More 2022 NFL Predictions, Part 2: Planting the Flag on All 16 NFC Teams
Rookie/new head coaches showed out in week 1: Todd Bowles (not a rookie but starting off his second head coaching stint) got a win. Matt Eberflus with the Bears won. Kevin O’Connell with the Vikings won. Mike McDaniel with the Dolphins won. Dennis Allen (also not a rookie head coach but starting his tenure off… Read More NFL Week 1 Notes
First and foremost, if Quinn Ewers doesn’t get hurt, Texas wins this game. Probably easily, honestly. They were the better team for most of the game. Second, even though Bama escaped this game, I think it’s going to be a long season for them possibly. They might lose 2-3 games. This just did not feel… Read More Bama Survives Texas
Now that the extra-long Week 1 of college football is in the books, and I’ve had some time to think about things and listen to podcasts and consider other people’s opinions, I want to go through all my thoughts about the college football landscape. We’ll go in order down the AP Top poll, but I’m… Read More College Football Thoughts Before Week 2
We’ll go by division: AFC East I was working on this post all week and during the Thursday Night kickoff game, and I have to admit, Josh Allen looks absolutely incredible. He looks like the best QB in the league. The guy they said was “inaccurate” when he was coming out of college looks like… Read More 2022 NFL Predictions, Part 1: Planting the Flag on All 16 AFC Teams
